Answer: Slim is a clever book display, that pays tribute to the covers of books.

Question: How many books can I put in Slim?
Answer: Slim comes in two sizes: Standard Slim and Demi Slim. Slim has 8 slots for books, Demi Slim has 4. Each slot can hold 1-3 books, depending on their size. On average, Standard Slim can hold 8-10 books, Demi Slim will display 4-6.

Question: I have more books than 10, why should I use Slim?
Answer: Slim is not designed to compete with traditional book shelves that store books away. Slim is a coffee table version of an elegant bookrack, intended to keep your favorite books in sight. Because Slim is designed to show the cover of the books, it will function as a very nice wall display, where you can create a changing work of art out of the various book covers you like.

Question: Is Slim a Bookrack or a Wall Ornament?
Answer: You choose. Slim can be used as a rack to keep books you use frequently in handy. Think of cook books, or the books you are currently reading. You can also use Slim as an accent piece in your room, creating a colorful grouping of books. Or both.

Question: Can Slim be placed on the floor?
Answer: The correct position for Slim is to be hung on a wall. Slim comes with three holes and all you need to do is mount Slim in place. Contact your local hardware store for the best mounting solution for your specific wall.
Before installing Slim, check the wall where you want to hang Slim. If your wall is not as straight as Slim's back, do not try to tighten all screws fully into the wall, as this will cause extra pressure on the back of the rack and force it to warp. Slim's back is straight, but not all walls are.

Question: Who designed Slim?
Answer: Slim is designed by Marianne van Ooij, a Brooklyn based Dutch designer. Marianne studied design at the Royal Academy of Art in the Netherlands and at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She wanted to find a way to keep her favorite books in sight. Slim was featured at the ICFF in 2006 and brought to the market during the ICFF 2009. Patent is pending for Slim.

Question: Is Slim safe?
Answer: Slim is made of ¼” inch acrylic, which is a safe and sturdy material. If used with common sense and when mounted properly, by using three screws, Slim will be very safe for your books. Make sure not to overload the rack. We advise not to load Slim with books weighing more than 16 lbs or 8 kilo’s.

Question: How long does it take for delivery?
Answer: In stock items ship within 5-7 business days. Depending on the final destination, you can expect Slim to arrive withing 1-3 weeks after shipping. You will be notified once Slim has shipped.

Question: I would like to place a large order, what shall I do?
Answer: Please contact us at slim@slimshelving.com first before placing an order for more than 10 units of Slim.

Question: How do I send items to multiple addresses?
Answer: If you are ordering multiple quantities of the same item and wish to send them to different addresses, make sure to add each item to your cart separately. You will be able to specify the different addresses on the Shipping page in Checkout.

Question: How do I place an Order?
Answer: It’s easy. First click on the product image or product name to view the item details. To add an item to your order, enter the quantity you wish to purchase into the Quantity box and click the Add to Cart button. When you are ready to checkout, you can click on Your Cart in the top right side of each page to view the entire contents of your cart. The checkout button will take you to a Sign In page. Here you can Sign In if you already have an account with us, or you can continue shopping As a Guest. When you have made your Sign in choice, you will complete a series of forms with your billing, shipping and payment information. Upon completing these forms, just click Place Order and you’re all Checked Out. A confirmation page will show a summary of your transaction. You may choose to print this for your records. An email version of this summary will be sent promptly. You can also place your order by calling us at +1.347.200.4767.

Question: How do I pay for my Purchase?
Answer: We use PayPal. Paypal accepts most major credit cards as well as multiple currencies.

Question: How will my order be delivered?
Answer: We use USPS to ship Slim to you. If you require extra services such as a delivery appointment or to arrange receipt of your order to a location other than a ground floor address, please call us at +1.347.200.4767 to place your order.
If you live in NYC, Slim can be directly delivered to you. Contact us to make an appointment.

Question: Can I purchase items for delivery outside of the U.S.?
Answer: If you live outside the United States and would like to place an order please contact us first at slim@slimshelving.com. Different shipping rates apply, depending on the country your Slim will be delivered to. The large version of Slim only ships in the US and to Europe.

Question: Do you charge taxes?
Answer: Slim Shelving is required to collect sales tax in the U.S. in states where we have a Studio location, in this case New York State. Sales tax is applied to the total amount of the order in accordance with local tax laws. All sales tax calculations are subject to revision & are recalculated on the day your order is shipped. If your order has more than one shipping address, sales tax will be applied to the individual items in your order based upon the specific ship-to destinations.

Question: Will I get an order confirmation?
Answer: You will receive an order confirmation as soon as you have placed an order. Please keep it in a safe place as we may ask you for information from it in any correspondence. If you do not receive this email please contact slim@slimshelving.com, so that we may investigate and confirm that your order has been placed successfully.

Question: Is the information I give you secure?
Answer: All orders are encrypted with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology on both your end and ours. SSL encrypts all of your personal information including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. In order for SSL to work, you must use an SSL-enabled browser. Please note: email is not encrypted and is not considered a secure means of transmitting credit card information. Question: What will you do to make sure I’m satisfied with my purchase?
Answer: We take pride in the quality of our products and stand behind each one. To ensure your satisfaction, all shipments are carefully inspected before leaving our warehouse. If you are not satisfied with your purchase upon arrival, please notify us immediately and we will attempt to correct the situation.

Question: How can I return a product?
Answer: The quality of our products is guaranteed. All items are inspected before leaving the distribution center. In the event that something happens during transit, we will accept any damaged or defective merchandise for return, but we must be advised as soon as you receive your merchandise, within 7 days. Just phone us, and our customer service staff will work with you to arrange return/replacement. If you do decide that a product does not meet design expectations, we will accept its return (minus shipping) as long as the product is returned to us undamaged.
